Ok, the Russkys!
First lets look at their special rules:
They gain a slight advantage when using an artillery observer, as the radius of the barrage is increased from d6+6 to best of 2d6+6. not awful, but kinda meh.
They have the "not one step back" rule, if you buy a commissar (who is a cheap alternative at the captain/major slot) and he is near a unit that fails an order test, he executes a model and that unit gets to retest. Honestly, this is awful. I lose a (generally expensive) infantryman, and all I get is to reroll the test?! if I failed it's probably becuase I was taking a long-shot to pass an order to begin with, so I'm likely going to kill a guy and fail again....
Now, their other two specil rules are amazing though:
first, if a unit ever fails a morale check to be destroyed, you can reroll it, this is great.
2nd you get a FREE inexperienced 12 man rifle squad with the "green" and "tank hunters" special rules. This is AMAZING.
you have an EXTREMELY wide variety of infantry choices, basically any task you can think of, they have an option for. I'd love to test out tank riders, but they're rather expensive. Also a couple units can be given body armour, which modifies the opponent's roll to wound you by -1 if they are using HE or small arms.
Russian artillery pieces are FANTASTIC, as most of them can pull double duty as both an anti-tank gun and as a Howitzer. The Zis-3 is the smaller one and the A19 is the monster. (the zis is a medium anti-tank AND a light howitzer, but the A19 is a heavy anti-tank and a medium howitzer with a penalty of it always fires as if at long range if using anti-tank rounds) still this thing is fantastic.
Russian tanks are also all mostly very good, with some amazing Medium tanks and a good variety of heavy tanks.
Their armour cars are nothing special, but not awful either.
