v1.091
Well, this is another posse that is not really playable as a standalone posse. Why, Because other than the boss, there are only two units in the entire game with the Hex Carcosa tags. and one of them is Unique. So, basically you will have Carcosa Rex, Probably Lokess, and a bunch of Wendigo's. This tells me that this posse is really meant to be taken as an add on or support posse to be taken alongside some other Hex boss, but you can play it if you really want to (and really like Wendigo and have a lot of them...) To get the posse bonus you have to fill all six slots. but honestly I wouldn't worry about this as it give everyone in the posse elite. a nice bonus, but nothing necessary. This would be an excellent 2nd boss to bring some fire support to another posse.
Looking at the Boss first:
Carcosa Rex comes with a Hexalith for free AND can buy an extra Profane nest. Counter intelligence allows redeploys within the deployment zone, but NOT to put units back into reserves (remember this). Death Dealer with a juiced axe and a fight of 7 makes him a terrifying combatant, and his nightbringer shooting attack is extremely good as well (very likely to cause 3 or 4 pierce -3 hits per shot) He can also do a carcosa version of rebel yell, which makes the other carcosa around him have +1 limit as long as they are near him. He's quite difficult to kill as well, being durable grit-7 with mettle and both quick and the dead and indomitable. He can also make ram attacks with unstoppable. Not a bad fighting boss.
the only face available to take as Hex Carcosa is Lokess:
She also has a death-dealer juiced axe, and while she does also have frenzy, the RoA of 1 makes that not such a big deal. She is also Durable Grit-7 with mettle and indomitable, but lacks Quick and the Dead. She has a similar gun to the boss, although slightly weaker with only pierce -2, and requiring the use of braced to make multiple attacks with it. It does however crit into the nastier overcharged rather than just lethal. She's also a large base and unstoppable. So basically a mini-boss with lower stats.
Aaaand everyone's favorite Hex support:
Wendigo
Grit 7, shrouded, and tough. again, a big model (this time an XL base) and unstoppable for ramming (and firing the heavy gun on the move). This thing brings alot of weapons to the table. In melee it's mediocre, with only a RoA1 attack at a -2 and no special rules beyond the typical crit into lethal. But it brings two shooting attacks. A hazardous torrent engulf, and a long range very heavy firepower gun (RoA 4, pierce -3, brutal and shred, crit into overcharged) at least it's special. They also have spirit aim, so they're probably not missing very much. They have fortune chips. the unit gets one per model at the START of their activation from weirding. And dying breath means it is probably shooting that scary reaper gun at anyone who doesn't kill them using melee. Dont forget they're tainted too (like everything in the posse) and with a high mind, they're probably at least spawning a hex beast too.
HOW DO I PLAY THIS POSSE?
Frankly, just stand around the boss in a big circle and bring the pain. you shoot well, you fight well. just get there and dish it out. there aren't going to be very many things that can stand up to this kind of firepower. The boss, Lokess, and 7 wendigos comes in at 1195 points. that's enough units to give everyone elite. enjoy.
