Who you gunna call? GHOSTBU..... er.. I mean... SOUL HUNTERS!
This is another one of the highly restrictive posses, where your first five slots are chosen for you. (There are 5 slots, and only 5 units that can fill them, so, you ARE taking all five) you really only get to make one choice. The "Agent" slot. Your benefit is that EVERYONE has teamwork, for chaining activations, which can be quite powerful.
There are LOTS of agents to pick from though. Lets start by looking at the Soul Hunters:
Warwick Hudson - The boss. He's not particularly fragile, with a typical Mettle, and Quick and the Dead at Grit 6, He also comes with Hardy, for free grit rerolls. He has a powerful shooting attack, and some very good special abilities. Savant can literally take Victory Points out of your opponent's hand and is extremely powerful. He's also a portal master, which can be very useful. He has spectral summoning, which, can almost be looked at like a weapon, as spirit apparitions are extremely fragile and unlikely to stay on the board for very long, but they have some very powerful attacks, so if you can summon them close enough to the enemy and immediately do some damage with them, they can still be effective. Still, there's no reason he needs to be leading from the front, as his attack is long range, and his abilities dont need proximity. So hold him back and keep him alive to hand out fortune chips.
Erin Meltzer - One of the all-stars of this posse. Treasure hunter is extremely powerful and can give you the opportunity to get extra victory points. She also has a good card manipulation with shrewd strategist, and she is ALSO a portal master. She has sic'em as well, and as this posse will not be able to fill a full tournament points cost alone without taking some of these kinds of 'extra' units. This posse would also benefit from some additional melee power, so I would recommend a big pack of K9 attack dogs with her sic'em. Erin needs to be protected like the boss, as Treasure hunter dies with her, she does have a very powerful shooting attack though with a torrent tangle that can be pierce -4 on 9's or 10's to hit. dont forget she can position that torrent template as she pleases in a nearby enemy unit instead of only on the closest model due to deadeyed.
Ernesto Volk - One of your frontline combat units. he has a similar torrent tangle weapon as meltzer (but it's only -3 pierce on attuned) however, his better attack comes from his melee. with auto-stun, RoA2 and quick strike. he's a pretty standard combat unit.
Hans Spelmann - He's as close to a sniper as you'll get among the Soul Hunters. He has a long ranged -4 pierce shooting attack with spirit aim to help it hit. That's about all he does though.
Jocasta Tobin - She's another basic combat unit, she comes with smoke grenades and controlled scatter, but like the boss, she is also spectral summoning. She's basically good for getting up close to the enemy, then summoning in some spirits to watch them blender an opponent.
Katherine Holst - A strange mix of special abilities. Repair doesn't really help any of the Soul hunters, but it could potentially help one of the Agents (a couple have the Machine trait) She's a bit harder to kill than the other soul hunters, with Sure foot helping her Quick and the Dead rolls, and a xenoshield. She also has For the Ladies to raise her grit (which also makes her attuned shooting have -4 pierce). And she can Jury-rig automata to help patch up those K9's that Erin Meltzer let you bring. She also comes with Gambler, so that you can get rid of 1 action point draws (dont forget this also removes her limit for that activation).
And now lets briefly look at the Agents available for the 6th slot:
Misty Mimms: She has undercover, to sneak onto the battlefield, and has a good shooting attack and a GREAT melee attack. Also Female for Katherine.
Furio Montoya: sheriff and tinman doesn't do much for this posse, She has for the boys, excellent melee with both stun and disrupt.
Jedrick Powell: He adds slightly to your card abilities with strategist. He has very good pistols with very high pierce.
Doc Holliday: Anotherg ambler, very good short/medium range shooting.
If you have action points to waste after he successfully gambles, he can dish out ALOT of firepower.
Nakano Gozen: A second treasure hunter, although it doesn't stack, you'd have to kill them both to remove the ability from the posse, she also has strategist, and of course very good melee.
Thomas Tate Tobin: Shoulder to Shoulder doesn't help with this posse. He has decent shooting with the versatility of ammo clip, and he brings trapper.
Jedrick Powell mounted on Blackhoof 2020: He's a strategist, Extremely hard to kill, with good shooting. EXTREMELY hard to kill...
Longtree: An excellent choice, he brings enervate, more savant to hurt your opponent's hand, and of course the tough character killing pistol, he's a bit fragile but he also brings Sawbones to this posse, for some grit rerolls that don't burn fortune.
Ignatius Nero: teamwork doesn't matter, because everyone will get it from the posse bonus, good blast weapons, trapper, decent toughness (with for the ladies)
Venatici Helios: Rapport for using civilians, decent attacks.
Sadie Walker: gambler, rapport, undercover, above average shooting and melee (especially with civilians)
Broad Arrow Jack: another treasure hunter, gambler, rapport, above average shooting, for the ladies
Bud "Skorcher" Hutch : a highly mobile character killer. Drop the smokescreen on their back end of their base, disordering and potentially injuring them, then burn them down with the flamethrower, no Quick and the Dead allowed.
Leah Kingston : Alot of wasted abilities. Very basic attacks, but quickdraw, undercover, and a fortunechip for a discount price.
Carl Frederickson : Another portal manipulator, but that's not really needed in this posse. He does have rapport though and some decent attacks because of it.
Milo Jefferson : a trick shot chace launcher is always nasty. He also brings sic'em for more K9's, not a bad choice.
Camilla Blanche : Not a great choice as she wont have any other soiled doves to work with. at least she has undercover and for the boys.
Henry Courtwright : mediocre combat abilities, but with trapper and jury rig automata.
Lucinda Loveless : undercover with a fairly good shooting attack, rapport doesn't do much for her, and shoulder to shoulder and teamwork are essentially wasted. counter-strike is interesting, but her melee is just average.
Robert PInkerton : An absolute sniper with some civilians and rapport (lethal shredding automatic hits up to 18" away with kill shot?! boom.
Sierra Icarus (foot/mounted) : on foot, she's basically only a supporting unit, but rejuvenate and invigorate are both nice. However, when mounted, she's got a great shooting attack, and is a machine for getting rerolls from repair.
Pat Garrett : lots of wasted abilities, but inspirational is nice, and he does have sic'em for more dogs.
Garratt Morden : always a powerful unit, coming with a hexalith, and having full compel abilities, along with both Rapport an Rabble rouser. His shooting attacks are quite good too.
